| Known from Milne's catalog, and from a newspaper article from the Chilliwack Progress which was transcribed in the WPPSS documents. Milne's intensity of III appears to low, does not jibe with reports of persons awakened in Bellingham and items knockd off of mantlepieces. Newspaper reports should be sought. The report of a felt area of 6 square miles is cited in Milne must surely be wrong. |

"Residents of Huntingdon, Sumas and the district for some 6 miles
around were awakened at about 3 o'clock Thursday morning by an earth-
quake tremor which knocked small articles from mantelpieces and other
high places in their homes. No damage was done." |

A Victoria newspaper report mentioned persons being awakened by the tremor in that city and in Bellingham. The epicentre was probably in the Sumas district. D |
