Transcription: EARTHQUAKE EXPERIENCES
Since the earthquake a week ago many reports of the experiences of people have come to the Echo, and while no damage was done some comical situations occurred.
One little boy had been slow about dressing but when his home began to dance he soon got into his clothes and since then he has not had to be told twice to dress.
A woman out late at night before, had just been called out of bed to answer a telephone call from a friend. While they were talking the house start trembling. The lady had been through an earthquake experience before and she lost no time in getting out of the house, only to remember that she just hopped out of bed. At that, across the street another woman had appeared in like apparel.
Out at home of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Schmoker the quake was so violent that dishes were shaken from shelves and table and Mrs. Schmoker sought safety outside.
C.S. Taylor at the Toggery had just gone to a large mirror to see that it was properly polished, when it began to jazz. He called the clerk, saying Come on Bill, and rushed across the street, taking no chance on being hit by a thousand or two of brick.
Dr. Dutton, dentist, in his office over the Toggery, and a lady patient, hurriedly went from there.
In fact a great many people in stores and houses made hurried exits: only those who had not before had experience with earthquakes being slow to realize the danger of remaining within doors should be disturbance continue.
The quake was not felt at the camp of the Royal Development Company, but it is understood that evidence of it was seen, though no serious damage was done.
