In Washington, Townley and Allen report this earthquake felt at "Bellingham and Marietta, Whatcom Co. At Marietta a gradual rocking for three seconds" and cite the 'Seismological Reports of the US Coast and Geodetic Survey' . Milne says: "The distance from the Victoria seismograph station to the origin of this earthquake was estimated as 6 miles, although it is likely the epicentre was under Haro Strait. Bellingham and Victoria both report a rumbling noise accompanying the tremor. No tremor was felt at Vancouver or New Westminster. Col."
