Holden cites Plummer, and describes the event as it appears in the Oregonian, which states: "Ellensburg, April 16--A shock of earthquake was distinctly felt here last evening at 9:56. The motion appeared to be from east to west, and was noticeable for about 10 seconds. No damage was done, and very few people noticed it."

Ellensburg, April 16--A shock of earthquake was distinctly felt here last evening at 9:56. The motion appeared to be from east to west, and was noticeable for about 10 seconds. No damage was done, and very few people noticed it.
