Individual Event Report
Event #299 - Summary, and parameter estimates with source IDs
Landslide or Rockfall Catalog entries cite Holden (1898), who cites "newspaper dispatches" which report "the narrow escape of a party of tourists on Mount Hood on the afternoon of August 26 from an avalanche. The dispatches convey the impression of a volcanic eruption, but it seems entirely possible to explain the occurrence without any such assumption. A slight earthquake may have accompanied, or even caused, the avalanche. No reports have been received of any disturbances elsewhere on that day." Newspapers have not been researched.
