Comment: Although there is some uncertainty about the time, this aftershock seems to be well documented. The Lewiston and Walla Walla articles are distinct and separate sources, while the several articles from Olympia almost certainly all
originated from the report by Captain Lawson published in the Pacific Tribune
(Dec. 17, 1872) and the Weekly Pacific Tribune (Dec. 21, 1872) (see main shock).
Because reports with time information were received from two widely spaced places, this shock was likely responsible for
at least some of the many reports of aftershocks shortly following the main shock.

Comment:
Because the 3 AM time is mentioned over a large geographic area, it seem likely that this shock was also felt at other locales where multiple events were felt that night, but no specific times were given:
Colville W.T., Fort Simcoe W.T., Texas Ferry, W.T., Wallula, W.T., Wenatchee, W.

Comment: The report from Alberta, Canada does not mention the time of the main shock, but comparing the
"Half an hour" with Captain Lawson's chronometer times in Olympia
suggests this time. The separate newspaper articles from Olympia
almost certainly all originated from the report by Captain Lawson
published in the Pacific Tribune (Dec. 17, 1872) and the Weekly
Pacific Tribune (Dec. 21, 1872) (see main shock).
Because reports with time information were received from widely
distributed areas, this shock was likely felt at many more places,
and was responsible for at least some of the many reports of
aftershocks shortly following the main shock.

Comment: The report by Captain Lawson says only "after 11 P.M. there were five others". However, the fact that an 11 PM time was reported by two spatially separated places suggests that this was likely one of the stronger aftershocks, and was one of "felt during the night" events reported at
Colville W.T., Fort Simcoe W.T., Texas Ferry, W.T., Wallula, W.T., Wenatchee, W.T., Snoqualamie W.T., The Dalles, OR, Walla Walla, W.T.

Comment:
This event was reported felt in Olympia. An unpublished paper from Margaret Hopper lists a felt report from Walla Walla, which I was not able to locate. The early-morning time of this event makes it a poor fit with the "other events felt overnight" descriptions received from many locales.

Comment:
I believe that this aftershock was widely felt, and that it was felt at Colville as well, with the date mistakenly given as the 28th. In addition, there are reports lacking definite times from Yale, BC and Walla Walla of shocks felt during this week.
